Botox

Neuromodulators like BOTOX®, Xeomin®, Dysport and Nuceiva are pharmaceutical medications made from Botulinum bacteria. Their active ingredient is a purified protein approved by Health Canada for cosmetic use, helping to smooth skin and reduce the appearance of dynamic lines and wrinkles.

How does NEUROTOXINS work?

Dynamic wrinkles are the lines that appear around the eyes, forehead, and frown area due to years of facial expressions like smiling, laughing, and frowning.

When we’re young, our skin is elastic and supple, with minimal visible lines that disappear quickly once facial expressions stop. However, as we age, wrinkles can remain even when the face is at rest—these are known as static lines.

Neuromodulators, or “anti-wrinkle injections,” work by temporarily blocking nerve signals, preventing facial muscles from contracting. This relaxation of the muscles leads to smoother, more youthful-looking skin.

Typically, neuromodulators are most effective on dynamic wrinkles. However, with consistent use, even static lines can soften over time, becoming less noticeable.
